November APC Update on Pylons and Local Plan
November Update - 6th November 2025
On Tuesday night Aldham Parish Council met to discuss probably the two largest proposals to affect our village in a life time.
Local Plan
Colchester City Councils draft Local Plan outlines where housing could go over the next 15 years and this is to be voted on 10 November 2025. Chair Mike Lambert will represent Aldham at that meeting and more information will be available once the vote has been taken.
Pylons
Pylons are the other issue that we can still influence. Again, Aldham Parish Council will be making the case for our Village but we need everyone to speak up too. National Grid have made their application to build the Pylon route to the Planning Inspectorate (PI). The PI will now follow the Development Consent Order (DCO) process, which has a very rigid timetable.
To make your points you must register with the Planning Inspectorate and the deadline for this is 23:59 on 27 November 2025. Once registered you are able to submit further comments during the actual examination of the application.
Remember, you have told National Grid what you think before, not the Planning Inspectorate. So you need to make your points once more to ensure they are heard.
Please act to help us and ask your friends and neighbours to act too.
